A Love of History and Medieval Swords
Everyone who collects swords has their favorite style – mine happens to be medieval swords, and it probably always will be. When I was growing up, that was my favorite period to study in history – I was one of those kids that would actually check history texts out of the library. While I can’t remember all of the different things and dates and names of popes and dukes, I do have a vivid memory of what I considered more exciting at the time – the knights, the Vikings, and the invasions by the Goths and the Huns. Even the Holy Crusades, which were a violent and unfortunate part of history, were interesting. Part of the reason I liked this period was because of all the swordplay. It fascinated me and was the reason that I began collecting swords as a hobby. I have replicas of many of the styles of swords that I read about as a kid.
